Altering and redefining things that connect so closely with the self is a way of questioning how we see the world, why we see it that way we do, and why we feel the way we do about our bodies.

Through the use of hair, I explore the dichotomies of one’s reaction to the material: beautiful and disgusting. I wanted to engage with the space between the choice to see hair as beautiful and seeing hair as viscerally repulsive. Hair looks at this space in an interactive and material way. This piece confronts the viewer when walking into the space tomake aware of the choice one takes when interacting with the piece.
