How we leveraged influencer culture
Influencer culture has not only helped promote brands but larger social issues and charities that celebrities are passionate about. Historically, donations from individuals account for over two-thirds of all donations. If you add in gifts from bequests, then the category accounts for nearly 80% of all giving. In other words, the donating public, not big foundations or corporations, is responsible for the vast majority of annual donations.
Many people in today’s world have a hard time knowing what a good first step to social activism or giving back is.
As a team, we are aiming to create measurable change by giving people an easy tool to find causes close to their hearts and close to their homes. The added layer of also identifying celebrity endorsements for charities mixes personal passion and pop culture by connecting everyday folks to people they admire in hopes of creating larger social change through already established followings.

Clout provides influencers and celebrities a platform to spread awareness of different causes
“As social media expands its cultural dominance, the people who can steer the online conversation will have an upper hand in whatever niche they occupy — whether that’s media, politics, business or some other field.”

Charities and nonprofits are already trying to integrate influencer culture to spread awareness and increase resources.

Making Social Impact through digital solutions
Creating a solution that leverages a new behavior of the next generation to enable future growth within the non-profit sphere was inspiring. This application pushes us to think creatively about how we make donating not seem like something you had to be "an established adult" to do.
Takeaway 1
I thrive on projects that consider the social and cultural implications
I really found my passion working on applications that enabled its users to build community and connect over meaningful causes. I find it interesting how many social apps are created for the intention to connect but there can be unintended consequences that begin to change the way users see themselves. This process has made me more curious about how we can design products that consider the future.
Takeaway 2
Breaking down the silos of front end and back end development allows for increased collaboration
I find joy in moving back and forth between the front and backend. The frontend allows me to exercise my creativity, while the backend provides the space to dive deep into the technical logic of databases. I strive for work that provides me with the room to grow and push my creative thinking while exercising new technology and technical skills.
